
Chad E. Galer, M.D.
Dr. Chad Galer has been a leader in otolaryngology for over a decade. Since 2009, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. ln 2012, he became Chief of Otolaryngology at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, where he provided expert care to patients and lead clinical teams until his departure for Minnesota.
Dr. Galer earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa. He completed a general surgery internship followed by residency training in otolaryngology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Galer further specialized during research and clinical fellowships at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on metastasis in oral cavity carcinoma.
ln addition to his clinical work, Dr. Galer is an active educator and researcher. He has 19 peer-reviewed publications and has been a lecturer and dissection proctor for Indiana University’s Annual Anatomy and Histopathology of the Head and Neck and Temporal Bone Course since 2010. Dr. Galer also chaired the Cancer Committee at the Roudebush VA Medical Center, demonstrating dedication to improving outcomes for cancer patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Galer enjoys camping, backpacking, playing guitar and spending time with his wife, his three adult children and his one fluffy dog.
